Closed in 1983. A distillery with quite a tale to tell.Saturday, August 16, 1941,and the distillery that was at the time used as a billet for soldiers from the Kings Own Scottish Borders is paid a visit by the Luftwaffe. As the Banffshire Journal reported.`The warehouse is bombed and burns down to the ground, with exploding casks sent flying into the air with thousands of gallons of whisky lost either in the fire or by running out from the casks.Animals in nearby fields and streams became intoxicated and cows could not stand up to be milked! The whisky here once supplied the House of Commons. It has a sweet and inoffensive taste.
